If you are looking for a quick bite this is not the place for you. It usually takes them 20 minutes to prepare our order of 3 sandwiches. If you are looking for a yummy bagel sandwich or a sandwich on other bread and have time give this place a try. I am not a bagel expert but these are our favorite NY bagels in the Triangle.
My husband loves the Nova Lox bagel - it comes with lox, cream cheese, onions, capers, lettuce, and tomato. He craves this bagel and no one makes this quite like Courtney's.
My father is a fan of the pastrami Reuben on rye. I've had it a couple times too - all the ingredients are balanced and it's never drowning in dressing or kraut.
I've enjoyed the chicken salad on a bagel as well as the Empire State (turkey, bacon, cheese on a roll with lt).
I think the coffee options could be improved. It would be nice if they offered ice tea freshly brewed. Though they have a large selection of bottled drinks they do not really appeal to me. -

I'm a repeat customer here... used to be. What irritates me is how they're charging $0.75 if you use a card to pay for a bagel. So let's say my bagel comes out to $2... I'm stuck paying almost $3 just because of their new "system"? Who carries cash anymore? Seriously...
Also, their bagels aren't really that good. They're mediocre at best and I would only go for the convenience. I didn't want to spend the time making them at home and thought for the $2 I'd spend a day on it, it made sense to go! But for this new service charge to go into effect and they don't care about it, is upsetting.
What also confuses me is the fact I order the same thing every day. Yet, I'm always charged a different price. One day I'm charged $2.50, the next, $3.10, the next $5.30, the following $2.75.... I never argue because I'm in there a lot but this place is so inconsistent and with this new upcharge they're forcing on customers, I'll just go to a local grocery store and make my own bagels. -

Sometimes it hurts to give a 3-star review, just because you're rooting for the place you just ate at. You want a 5-star bagel shop to be right around the corner, who doesn't?!
Coming into NY Bagels as a native NYer, I was intentionally keeping the bar low since I know we're in NC and we can't exactly import the water that makes those NY bagels so delicious. I don't know who Courtney is, but darn it, I felt like Courtney was going to bring us exactly what we needed out of a bagel and deli shop and it came close, but still missed the mark. Courtney, I was rooting for you!
Really, when it comes to breakfast sandwiches, all I need is egg and cheese on a bagel. See the photo below to understand why this place fell short. The ratio was off. Too little egg, which is the opposite of what a traditional NY deli would do.
Service was good, wait times on a Saturday morning were a tad long but that's okay, I'll wait if it means a good egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is brewing. $4 for a sandwich is actually a little more than what it would cost at a corner store in Manhattan, but, hey, I won't judge. If it's worth the price, I'll pay it. Hoping Courtney sees this and talks to their chef, I'm all for improving based off of constructive criticism.
Sorry to give the 3 star review, but I have to say- Yelpers hit the mark. 3.5 is what it was rated coming in, and is exactly what this place is offering in terms of food. -

The food here is good but they need a new system. It is terribly inefficient and slow. Wait time is so long even when they are not busy. I hope they get it figured out bc the food is good and the location is convenient.

I have been a customer for many years. The bagels are good but I am so upset about the additional charge of $0.75 to use a credit card. This information is not posted nor is it mentioned when paying. It is not about the amount of the charge but rather the way is was just added to the bill. That is poor business and without notifying the customer...it is just sneaky!
